I am thrilled to introduce you to my friend June Cockwell, who, from the moment I met her, inspired me with her passion, her drive against all odds and her authentic style of leadership.

June and I met through our affiliation with the Community Foundation of Oakville, where she is the incoming Board Chair for 2009 and I have been a long time volunteer and occasional consultant. June also heads up an organization called HIPPY Oakville, which stands for Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters. This global organization, started in Israel in 1969, was created to serve the under-educated and to help immigrants integrate, lessening the gap between the standards of education across cultures and nationalities. Now HIPPY spans across 8 countries and operates a number of sites in Canada, including Vancouver, Toronto and Oakville.
