Welcome back to From Ordinary to Great!  I'm hoping you had a fabulous summer!

September is often more like a new year to me than January.  The kids are back at school and new routines, schedules, and goals take effect.  What is your intention for this time in your life?  Here is something that I have learned recently that I wanted to share with you.

My intention right now is to ask and receive help.  Think about it – we have been so conditioned to be independent, do things on our own and we have this unwritten assumption that asking for help is a bad thing to do.  It may be because we feel it make us more vulnerable, more weak or that we can't be bother to ask or we feel as though other people may not want or be able to help.  No matter what your reason has been to NOT ask for help, I encourage you to think about what you want in your life and look more broadly at ALL the resources and people available to you and ASK FOR HELP.  Asking for help opens doors to new opportunities and for goodness sake, when help does come, receive it!!  I mean it.  Receive the help graciously and appreciatively, not with guilt or feeling like you owe someone something.  Allowing the flow of energy to give and receive creates abundance in all areas of your life.  So ask, ask for what you need – you may be surprised at what shows up!

In my last newsletter, I wrote about committing to a 10 month long Leadership program and I have since had an opportunity to attend one of the four retreats of this program in Northern California.  It is so difficult to put into words what an incredibly powerful and life-changing experience this has been.  From climbing and diving off 40 foot high California redwood trees to feeling so safe and so secure, from facing my own vulnerabilities and fears to being in the most loving and sacred place with a group of powerful, internationally-diverse, and beautiful people, the experience was just magical.  I have learned so many things about myself in the course of the week that I was there in July and since then also....so what was the one thing I learned that I will share with you all?  That showing, demonstrating and acting upon the feelings of love, grace, and appreciation through hugs, touch and authentic conversations makes my world so much brighter, so much clearer and so much more joyful.  So if there are people in your life that make you happy, tell them, show them, with no expectations.  Just find it in yourself to give love and respect and increase your level of energy by just the mere act of giving.  Let me know how it goes....
