The last two weeks with my coaching clients, I have sensed a theme emerging and I realize that it is the universe shining a big spotlight on me to revisit the concept of living at your biggest, most brilliant self.  What is that anyway?

Do you ever brush away a compliment, making who you are or what you have accomplished not a big deal? Have you ever made someone feel better by making something that you have done less than it was?  We do these things to belong, to ensure that people still like us and to make sure that people don't think that showing up as ourselves means that we are showing off!

I know I have given you this quote before but I am so attuned to Marianne Williamson's quote this week that I must offer it to you again, as a reminder and really, a stance to take.  Here it is:

" Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?

...Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory that is within us. And as we let our light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Turn up the dimmer switch.  You are serving no one – others or yourself, by living in the shadow.

I have always been someone who speeds through life.  Ask my family or my close friends (LC girls, Spiders), you know.  When I am committed to something, I set a goal and I achieve it.  And once I achieve it, I move onto the next thing.  Hello?  Do I stop and smell the roses? Do I stop and appreciate my accomplishments like I suggest to my clients? Ooops – not very good at that, I must admit.  This past week, this "moving-on-to-the-next-thing" showed up again.  The book that I co-authored, Be Different, Be YOU was published and launched at Canada's largest book festival in Toronto.   Usually, I would have "done the book launch" thing and moved onto what was next on my agenda.  This time was different.  I really allowed myself to stop and think "wow, I'm an author" and sink into the feeling of being proud of myself.  It's actually a novel feeling for me.  What have I learned?  I learned that if you don't stop and be proud of yourself, you teach others to treat you that exact way also.  So, feeling good brings about more reasons to feel good.  Put the brakes on and appreciate yourself for a bit this week....I'd like to know how you feel when you do this.
