Greatness Tip!

I am very happy and excited to announce that I have joined forces with yet another amazing coach.  Yvonne Attard Coaching welcomes Lisa Cote-McKain of Well Done!  Lisa is a Professional Organizer and her mission is to mentor clients from clutter to clarity!  Lisa offers professional organizing services to homes and businesses in the Halton and Peel regions.  Lisa can help you with kitchen organizing, overall clutter control (basements, garages, etc.), bathroom clutter, space planning, toy clutter, packing/moving records, closet organizing, paper/file management, downsizing & relocating and the list goes on and on.  Here are a few helpful tips from Lisa for all you parents out there who are trying to organize everything that your kids have brought home from school!

First of all, let’s look at the school backpack! I am sure you know what I am talking about – endless papers, notebooks, broken crayons, pencil cases although some of these can be salvaged for next year.  The trick is to do that now!  I used to make the mistake of carefully removing everything and combining it in the kids’ craft bin however, I have since learned to become smarter and separate each of their school supplies into their own labeled bin.  That way, you are ahead of the game for ‘back to school’ shopping.  By labeling each bin “off bounds”, it’s easy to see what can be reused and what needs to be purchased for the next school year.  If your kids go to a school like my kids do, lists are sent home at the end of each school year indicating all of the supplies required for the next school year. I make sure that I tape next years’ list to the inside of their respective bins and cross off the items I already have on hand.  When I shop for new supplies, I just cross them off the list.  – Lisa Cote-McKain, Well Done!

Personal Reflection: What Have I Learned?

As I sit here on the dock at a cottage, I am noticing an overwhelming sense of gratitude and appreciation of the people in my life.  I must tell you that I have been coming to this cottage for almost 20 years.  It belongs to a family who are very close friends of mine and I have fortunate enough to remain on the invitation list each year.  Being in the water, listening to it slap against the rocks, enjoying the sun, the wind and the sound of our children playing in the background, makes me realize how lucky I am.  I am surrounded by a loving family who have opened their hearts and cottage to my family, I have my own family with me, I have my health to enjoy all the activities that I choose to do and I have the opportunity to slow down in an otherwise chaotic and busy world.  I am so grateful to the SAQ family for providing me with wonderful memories and a haven to escape to, to rejuvenate and recharge.  So what have I learned?  Find your haven and take time to escape, even if it’s just for an hour or two.  It does wonders for your soul, mind and body.
