Greatness Tip!Happy New Year! Is this going to
be your very best year yet? Did you
make New Year’s resolutions? And how are they holding up? Some say that by January 5th, most
people have slipped on their resolutions and more often than not, if you are
an “all or nothing” person, you have given up on your resolution
completely! Why do we do this to
ourselves? Why are we so hard on
ourselves and why don’t we persevere? What people do not generally understand about goal setting and New Year’s
Resolutions is that there is a lot you must get clear about BEFORE you decide
on your resolutions. Firstly, what you
resolve to do differently this year needs to be based on, and driven by, your
core values. Secondly, you must be
clear about what the end results look like so you can measure them and know
that you have achieved them. Thirdly
and most importantly, you need to be very aware of the “reason” you are
resolving to change i.e. what happens if you don’t stick to this? How will your life change if you do, or
don’t do, what you’ve said?
Concentrating on the real reason will help with your adherence to the
resolution. For example, if one of your 2007 goals is to exercise more, what does
this mean? Applying the three above
steps to this goal might look like this: 1)
Exercising more resonates with your core values of
physical fitness and having more energy 2)
The end result looks like having more defined
bicep/tricep muscles, a flat tummy and great energy every morning when you
get out of bed by June 30, 2007. To
achieve this, you will run/walk 3 times a week for 20 minutes, strength train
your upper body 2 times a week and do 10 minutes of abs 2 times a week. 3)
If you don’t do this, you will have low energy, low
self-confidence and that will impact all other areas of your life –
relationships, work, parenting. Life
will be a drag! When you achieve this,
you will bring spark, life and happiness to all areas of your life and be
proud of your accomplishments. Wow! Focus on the reasons for your resolution – it will keep you on track even
when the activity is difficult to change at the beginning. Let me know how it goes and if I can
help! Good luck! SpotlightBook Your 2007 Goal Setting SessionIt is amazing what you

am overwhelmed by my gratitude for all the events, people and experiences I
have had. Thank you! I have spent some wonderful time over the
holidays reflecting on what I loved in 2006, what I could do without in 2007,
what I want more of and setting 5 distinct major goals for this year. Through this reflection, I have learned
that 2007 will be my year of “showing up” and living larger than I have ever
lived or dreamed of living. So, my
theme for this year is “living bravely and authentically”. I look forward to telling you more about
this and being part of your personal growth journey. |
